Cardiac Involvement In Scleroderma (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

How Is The Heart Involved In Scleroderma?

Scleroderma makes the tissues in your heart tougher than in turn would limit its functions. If the heart gets involved with scleroderma, then there will be limitations to its function. This is characterized by myocardial disease, arrhythmias or conduction system abnormalities. Even if it is not the heart that would get affected but rather the kidneys or lungs, that could still cause a lot of heart problems, the most common being hypertension. Being that, the heart is one of the most involved organs in scleroderma.

One who gets scleroderma should be expecting some heart problems since the heart is largely involved in it. Fortunately, this can be managed with the help of some doctors. Although there is still no guarantee that a patient would be completely free of scleroderma after medications, medications are made to help patients go by difficult symptoms that are brought to them by scleroderma.

How Is Heart Involvement In Scleroderma Managed?

There is no treatment for scleroderma instead, the approach to this is patient-specific and would depend on what the specific circumstances are. For heart involvement, the doctor would make use of medications such as calcium channel blockers, nifedipine, nicardipine and bosentan. For children who have it, the approach to treating them is a combination therapy of methotrexate, corticosteroids and cyclosporine.

If these would cause side effects, then different medications are used depending on what would suit the patient specifically. Patients with Raynaud’s should be aware that these medications could worsen their condition.

Cardiac Involvement In Scleroderma (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that is characterized by toughening most commonly in the skin and could also happen to other organs. The mild form of this known as morphea, although it can cripple its patients would tend not to be fatal. Another form of this which is systemic sclerosis, since it would affect the skin as well as would limit the functions of the affected organs could be fatal. As of now, there is no exact cause of this disease and most doctors would go by theories.

Scleroderma is found worldwide however; women are about four times as likely to have it more than men. This would also develop mostly between the ages of 30 and 60. The disease is quite rare as affecting only 14 out of every 1 million individuals worldwide. This disease also rarely affects children. This disease is quite evident among the native American Choctaw tribe and African-American females.

What Causes Scleroderma?

The cause of scleroderma still remains unknown, although medical experts have developed various theories on the causes of it. Some have said that it is largely genetic so if an individual has scleroderma, he puts his relatives at risk of having it. Others would say that it is environmental and is brought about by unwanted factors in the environment such as virus, bacteria and other similar factors. However, non of these theories are proven yet.

The result of this is that the immune system, instead of protecting the body would attack the tissues in the body causing the development of scar tissue on the affected areas. Although different cases of scleroderma would cause different symptoms, the most common ones would be the Raynaud’s phenomenon which would refer to the spasms of arteries supplying blood to the fingers, toes and face. For systemic scleroderma, this is coupled by limitation in the organ’s function.

Alternative Treatments Used for Managing Mood Swings (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

The problem is that this effect is temporary.  Once the sugar 'high' is gone, it results to a sudden drop in the levels of the 'happy' hormones.  This, then, results to a sugar 'crash', which explains the mood swings.

As a means to avoid mood swings, a common component of alternative treatments is to carefully examine the patient's diet to see which foods could be considered as the cause of the condition.  Appropriate corrections are then applied.

A caveat:
As with all treatments that may or may not have approval from health authorities, it is important to practice caution, particularly if the alternative treatment is new.  There may not be enough supporting evidence or truths to the claims of manufacturers and retailers of the products.

Should alternative treatments be considered as a means to manage or treat mood swings, make sure that you have sufficient information regarding the type of treatment used and its foreseen effects.  Allergic reactions in some individuals, for example, are common.

Certain herbs can also affect the efficacy of some medications.  If mood swings are caused by attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and medications are used, herbal medications could make the drugs less effective.

Alternative treatments can be very useful if and when they are used with sufficient care and if they are supported by the correct information.  It would also help if an experienced alternative practitioner is consulted.  They have the appropriate training and experience to help patients choose the correct treatments for their condition.

Mood swings can have different causes, which means that treating them will require different approaches, depending on the individual and on their needs.

Alternative Treatments Used for Managing Mood Swings (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Alternative treatments are some of the more popular techniques used to manage mood swings.  Although many patients are able to handle their condition through medications and traditional therapy, others try to seek out other means to deal with their mood swings.  So how do alternative treatments measure against more traditional ones and which ones are currently being used?  Here are some of them:

Aromatherapy
The emotions associated with mood swings can often be relieved or managed with aromatherapy.  This is a very popular alternative treatment that helps promote relaxation and calm.

Certain herbs, oils and scents have been used for centuries to treat mood swings.  These include lavender, lemon, orange and peppermint.  These scents have been known to affect the moods of individuals, allowing them to relax, thus preventing extreme changes in mood and behavior.

Herbal and homeopathic remedies
Herbal treatments have been traditionally used as alternative treatments for many centuries.  They can come in a variety of forms, including drinks and supplements.  People who have suffered from mood swings have had some success with certain herbal alternative treatments, such as teas, vitamins and other forms of nutritionals.

Diet changes
Diet plays a huge part in the overall wellbeing of all individuals.  Certain foods, for example, can produce reactions that could lead to mood swings.  These include refined sugar, caffeine, rancid and fried foods.  Conversely, the lack of certain foods in the regular diet could also produce deficiencies that could lead to extreme changes in a person's emotions.

Sugar, for example, is a common culprit when it comes to mood swings.  Sugar is notorious for causing feelings of bliss because once ingested into the body, it triggers the production of certain hormones.  These hormones then promote the general feeling of elation.

Choosing the Right Merchant Account Service Is Essential For Your Business (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

You should also ask about their customer services practices and how efficient is their technical support.

A few examples of merchant account providers which you can transact business with include ClickBank, Digibuy, PayPal, Ebid, and Moneybookers.

The best part is that they all accept credit card payments.

The best merchant account provider to get is the one that guarantees security for you and your customers. So consider that when you are looking for one to accept credit card payments.

If you are still unsure which merchant account provider to get, do some research and read what other people have said about them. You will find a lot of these on the web and if there is nothing negative, use your gut to make that important decision.

Electronic commerce is expected to grow and the sky is the limit. At the end of 2006, online transactions exceeded $1 billion so you can just imagine how it will do in the years to come.

Forecasts estimate that there could be a decline this year due to the economic crisis but believe things will rebound in the long term. The so called “economic crisis” is simply part of the business cycle and things will get better by the first or second quarter of 2009.

A merchant account is needed if you decide to open your own business. This is more of a necessity if you plan to sell items online because your customers will not be able to pay for the goods through cash.

While bank to bank transfers and money transfers around, there have been incidents which have given them a bad name so why go through all the trouble when there is a way to do this efficiently and securely through a merchant account.

Choosing the Right Merchant Account Service Is Essential For Your Business (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

More and more people use their credit card when they go shopping or eat out. The simple explanation for that is we don’t carry hundred dollar bills in our wallets wherever we go. If you plan to open a business, it is important then to open a merchant account.

Now some people think that this is costly. Is that true? The answer is no. You just have to look for them and compare their rates before selecting which one to use.

You will be surprised to know that it is better to open a merchant account not from a bank but a private enterprise. This is because private enterprises that engage in this kind of business are more high tech than some banks.

Another thing that may shock you is the fact that most banks that encourage clients to open a merchant account outsource the entire operation to a merchant account provider.

If this is case, why go through the bank when you can work directly with them?

To find a merchant account provider, you have to check with the Better Business Bureau so you are only working with one that is legitimate.

Once you have found a few, ask about their fees. Don’t be fooled if the rates are lower than most because there could be hidden fees. You should also find out if the merchant account provider requires you to pay a security deposit. It will be great if they don’t.

If things do not work out, you should know right now if the merchant account provider offers a 100% money back guarantee.

Step One: Get Free Living Wills Online (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Parts of the Living Will

Living wills are typically comprised of two distinct parts. The first part indicates when it will be effective and could specify one or more conditions that would serve as the triggering factor. Once the specified condition has been established to be in existence, the living will's second portion will commence.

This section points out what medical treatments are to be given or withheld. A common stipulation is that measures to assuage pain and lessen suffering should on no account be denied to the patient. If you happen to hold the same sentiment, ensure that your living will includes this provision.

Ascertaining the Patient's Condition

The task of ascertaining the condition of the patient is placed in the hands of the doctors. The attending physicians, as well as a medical consultant, should individually examine the patient. The findings should then be documented in the medical chart prior to withholding or withdrawing various life-prolonging measures.

Procedure for Dispute

When an attending doctor's decision to withhold or remove life support measures is called into question, he or she is compelled to continue the provision of treatment. A judicial evaluation of the disputed decision should be sought within a period of seven days; otherwise, the physician may carry on with the medical directive as stated in the patient's living will.

Although life-prolonging measures may be withheld in the absence of a living will, drafting one will guarantee that these decisions are formulated based on the expressed desires of the patient, and not merely derived from the collective opinions of his or her immediate family.

Reading And Interpretation Of Body Language (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Crossed Arms

Arms crossed across the chest is one of the most powerful and basic gestures used by anyone. One can form a barrier between himself and another person by crossing his arms, or it may simply mean that he feels cold. It can also indicate as a protection or defense in nervous or anxious situations.

When you are talking to someone and he would cross his arms, it means that he opposes, suspects, or doubts what you are saying. But if he is talking with his arms crossed, it means that he may be nervous, lying, or hiding something from you.

Hand Movements

The pockets are never the right place to put your hands into. A person with his hands in the pocket may indicate that he is nervous, uncomfortable, bored, or uninterested. This gesture indicates also that he may be hiding something from you or he doesn't want to engage in a specific activity or task.

An open palm means sincerity or honesty. A clenched fist is a very clear indication of frustration, anger, resistance, and defense. But there are times wherein it indicates confidence in one's idea or opinion. Nervousness or anxiousness is seen in someone who is tapping or twitching his fingers. Rubbing of hands, meanwhile, may indicate extreme excitement or cold feeling.

Read another person by reading his body language. One's actions definitely have more honesty compared to the words coming out from his mouth.

Reading And Interpretation Of Body Language (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Consciously or unconsciously, humans can send and receive messages through body language. It is a form of nonverbal communication, which mainly involves gestures using the different parts of the body. It would truly be an advantage if you know how to read and interpret another person's body language for the very reason that you can determine his or her mood, expressions, and desires.

There are several gestures that a person uses in different specific situations – at work, in a job interview, dinner date, or even in a casual conversation. The eyes, arms, and hands are the body parts frequently used to communicate, even unconsciously.

Eye Language

Eye contact is the most powerful language using the eyes. It have different meanings. It can indicate mistrust from another person when he cannot take his eyes off the speaker, or it may mean that the person has a positive outlook or interest on what the speaker is saying. In instances that a person would look from one eye to another then another area, there are different interpretations as well.

Movement from one eye to another then to the forehead indicates that the person is looking at authoritative figure. Another instance is when the person would look from one eye to the other then to the nose, this means that there are no level of superiority in either party.  The last case indicates a sign of romance or attraction when the person would look from one eye to another then down to the lips.

However, the eyes can be misleading, especially if there are other gestures accompanying it. Despite direct eye contact, when the person you are speaking to is still fiddling something with his hands, it means that is mind is elsewhere but you. If he is looking at you but with the arms crossed, it indicates signs of bother or defense from you. Another case is when there is eye contact but the head is slightly tilted. This indicates boredom. Lies can be spotted as well when there is excessive blinking and no eye contact.

Cycle Time Reduction Principles for CNC Machining Equipment (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

2.) On-line, non-productive tasks:

These are tasks that occur during the machining cycle that do not actually further the completion of the workpiece. The first thing Computer Numerical Control people often target for improvement is wasted program execution time. These are the things like rapid movements, tool changes, M-code execution and spindle acceleration/deceleration. Reducing program execution time in this area is usually easy.

It often takes nothing more than carefully monitoring the production run for a few workpieces to find those times when the program can be modified to eliminate noticeable pauses during the cycle. Although keep in mind that the worker for these machines must not overlook other processes for they may be so concerned with minimizing program execution that they overlook other operations, resulting in severe wastes of cycle time.

3.) Off-line, non-productive tasks:

These are the tasks performed in the machining cycle that do nothing to further the completion of the workpiece. Since these types of tasks are done while the machine is producing workpieces, they do not actually add to the cycle time. It is possible to free the operator of the machines of performing off-line productive tasks if they have little, or nothing to do during lengthy machine cycles.

4.) Off-line, productive tasks:

These are the tasks done away by the CNC machine, while the machine is producing workpieces, which would further the completion of the workpiece. This is extremely helpful during lengthy CNC cycles, tasks in this category can reduce the time it takes to complete the production run dramatically, which would effectively reduce cycle time.

Cycle Time Reduction Principles for CNC Machining Equipment (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

What is the definition of cycle time?

Cycle time is defined to be the time that happens from the time a task or series of tasks is initiated to the time a task is completed. Example, the cycle time is the time a shipping order is printed to the time it is loaded on the truck and the system is updated. An alternate definition would be is the time it takes to load, run, and unload on workpiece.

Cycle time of a machine can be simply measured by timing how long it takes from pressing the button to start the cycle for the first workpiece to the pressing the next button for the next workpiece.

Production quantities in an industry dictate that the more workpieces you run, the more important it is to achieve the goal of lowering the cycle time.

Everything and anything that happens in a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining equipment can be divided into four categories:

1.) On-line, productive tasks:

These are the actual machining operations that occur during a CNC cycle. These are the milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, and any other machining operation that in some way furthers the completion of the workpiece. To minimize the cycle time in these areas, there are two ways in which this can be achieved. One would be through careful process planning.

The process engineer must select an appropriate machine tool, cutting tools, fixturing, and machining order in a way that it matches the number of workpieces to be machined that will be based on the production quantity. The cycle time will be a reflection of the processes being used to machine workpieces.

If in the many times that your company’s processes have already been developed and implemented before you begin your cycle time reduction program, then your second alternative is to optimize cutting operations for this would involve properly selecting cutting tool materials, feeds, and speeds to machine workpieces as efficiently as possible with the current process.

Collateral Damage: Suicide and Economic Recession (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

In the Philippines back in 2007, an 11 year old girl ended her life because of poverty.  In her suicide note, she wished that her parents will have a stable job and that her siblings would be able to go to school regularly.  This incident drew attention towards the poverty programs the government has in the country.

Governments and concerned institutions globally are taking steps to address this issue.

An example would be the steps being undertaken by the Japanese government.  Some new measures are changing work patterns to allow more flexibility and funding early detection and treatment programs.

The Japanese government are also providing better mental health counselling at the workplace, networks of community psychiatrists and public campaigns to raise the awareness of the problem. Telephone hot line services are also readily available. There is a new software being developed to filter out websites that promote group suicides.
Australia, in Asia-Pacific, is the first country to initiate the prevention of web based suicide groups.

Aside from government efforts, there are personal ways you can do to help a suicidal person:

1. A suicidal person is carrying a burden that they can’t handle anymore. Listening is important.

2. Be sympathetic, non- judgemental, patient, calm and understanding.

3. Avoid trying to offer quick solutions by belittling the person’s feelings.

4. Dealing with a suicide threat is stressful.  Seek assistance o decompress afterwards.

5. If personal efforts fails, don’t blame yourself. It is the person’s choice. It is wise to ask for grief counselling and suicide survivor support groups.

Collateral Damage: Suicide and Economic Recession (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Economic recession and depressions are well known to bring about depression and suicidal risks. There are stories of businessmen jumping out of windows following the stock-market crash of 1929.

Unknown to many, people who commits suicide in the wake of economic recessions and financial crises are not individuals with pre-existing mental illnesses.  They are commonly middle-aged men in the verge of debt and bankruptcy.

About sixty percent of suicides in 2006 (worldwide) happen in the Asia Pacific region.   In Japan, Sri Lanka, and some parts of China report that more than 20 out of 100,000 citizens kill themselves each year.  More than twice as many in Australia and New Zealand.

It is also relatively higher in places where it is culturally accepted like in Japan and India.  When several countries in Asia- Pacific were hit by an economic crisis in mid- 1990s, there was a relative increase in the number of suicides among middle-aged men.  This group were said to be the most affected group by the economic recession.

Aside from economic factors being a reason for suicide, it also has to do something with the Asian values in terms of shame and humiliation not being able to provide for the family.

In Asian culture, loss of face or shame is take more seriously than it is in Western culture.  In Japan, there are samurais that took their own lives to avoid disgrace after a defeat. They call this tradition hara-kiri. There are some corporate executives who have done the hara-kiri tradition in the eve of an economic decline.  A stretch of forest  in Mount Fuji is called “the suicide forest” due to dozens of bodies retrieved from it every year.

Economic recession has great effects on the youth and children, poverty and financial difficulties have pushed them towards suicide.  In Israel in 2003, a 15 year old killed himself when their electricity has been cut.  In the suicide note, the teen-ager mentioned that he does not want to be a burden for his mother who raised him as a single parent.

A Closer Look at Home Exchange (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

In addition, you can be sure that your house is secured for a long period of time because there are occupants. The good thing about this option is that it gives you the chance to visit new places at a cost lower than the standard price. You can make your vacation truly fun and memorable.

When listing your property for home trade, it is very important to make potential partners see the desirability of making your property a vacation home. Just because you do not live in a mansion does not qualify you for trading your home. It would be to your best interest if you provide quality photos of the internal and external surroundings of your home as well as some description.

Privacy issues are the primary concerns why some homeowners are hesitant to offer their property for swapping. If you belong to this group, look for a website that would not reveal your name, address, contact number, or e-mail address and instead opt for an online form that hides your personal details. Just make sure that you make the most out of that online form.

Moreover, when describing your property to a prospective partner, do not forget to provide information about your property and community. Indicate who will be with you during the trip and when the deal will happen. Prior to reaching an agreement, you should get in touch with your partner. Successful deals are based on mutual trust so it is important to feel comfortable with the trade.

Home exchange is still a matter of personal choice so you can still opt for vacation rentals. However, there is no harm in trying out home trade since you will most likely get a good result and happy with your decision.

A Closer Look at Home Exchange (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

While vacations provide an excellent way to relax, rejuvenate, and have time with your family, it can be costly as well. Staying for a week in a hotel room can cost about $1,500. Add in the expenses for your food and the cost becomes higher. Home exchange is a new trend that does not only free you from the hassle of worrying about your lodging but also gives the opportunity to visit new and exciting places.

The basics of home trade is simple: you swap your property with another family. The technology of the Internet has made finding a property for swapping cheaper and more convenient. By accessing a home trade website, you can find a list of available properties for swapping. Once you find a property, work out the details with the owners of the home.

While working out the dates and times when the swapping will take place, you need to be flexible when it comes to the location and date so the trade would be easier and more successful. It would also be helpful if both parties would come out with an informal agreement laying down the terms and conditions.

If you are wondering what are the benefits of home trade, here is a look at the advantages of swapping your home compared to a vacation home or hotel.
As mentioned already, the major benefit of swapping your home is that you do not have to worry about spending for your accommodation. Likewise, you do not have to worry about food because you can do the cooking at your vacation property. You need not hesitate about leaving your house empty because you are not paying premium prices.

Is Fish Oil Harmful? (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Probably the major risk of overdosing on fish oil is the contamination, more specifically mercury contamination. It is a sad fact, but a lot of the world’s fishing grounds are contaminated or polluted. The fish you eat might have a good stock of omega-3 but you might not know it, the fish might only contain a considerable amount of heavy metal contaminants. When it comes to pill or capsule supplements, the process of creating those fish oil capsules might not be safe. The safest would be through a distillation process.

Another major risk is when combined with other blood thinners. Fish oil acts as a blood thinner or anti-coagulant, which basically helps stop platelets or heavy cells from forming blood clots reducing the risks of having a heart attack. However, if you combine fish oil with other medicines such as aspirins, the result might be very harmful to your body and even fatal. Too much blood thinners can cause you to bleed out. And bleeding does not mean just bleeding out externally, but there are cases where patients actually bled to their brains.

So going back to our question, is fish oil harmful? Well, the above scenario is quite a frightening one but things like that could possibly happen to people who are extremely careless. That is why before you take any supplements, fish oil in this case, you should consult your doctors and make sure you provide them with a complete, honest and proper medical history.

Is Fish Oil Harmful? (part 1 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

If you ask those fans of mackerel and salmon why they loved those fish so much and what is omega-3, they will probably give you a long lecture on how important or beneficial essential fatty acids are to your health. They will site a number of studies proving the positive effects of fatty acids on our bodies and how these can be used to treat a variety of conditions, ailments or diseases.

Some, and these are the really omega-3 fanatics, can go on and on and on. From the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids to the preparations and cooking of salmon. At the end you find yourself mumbling and probably cursing why you asked in the first place. However, despite the long lecture, you might notice your friend leaving behind an issue that is often disregarded but is equally important with the benefits of fish oils. And that can be addressed by answering the question: is fish oil harmful?

I am all for the various benefits of fish oils. I don’t discount it, I don’t question the studies nor do I criticize the testimonies from long time users. But personally, I don’t believe that fish oils are purely good. We have this saying that too much of anything is bad for you. The same should apply to fish oils. After researching the internet, reading a number of articles, and a couple of cups of coffee, I found out that fish oils do have some side effects, some even quite harmful.

Among the more minor side effects are diarrhea and that fishy after taste. You will experience these side effects if you too much dosage of fish oils. Commonly doctors would prescribe or recommend a 2 gram intake of fish oil daily at the minimum.

Acts Of Body Language That Should Be Avoided

Body language is one of the strongest means of communicating one's feelings, moods, attitude, and personality. In fact more than 60% of the communication process comes from the nonverbal cues which includes the body movements and speech volume, pitch, and pacing.

However, there are body gestures and movements generally considered as inappropriate and rude. A proper body language has a right place and a right time. Most of us are usually unaware of our actions. Thus, it is time to practice learning the acts of body language that must be observed and avoiding the actions which may be offensive to other people.

During A Job Interview

A job interview is a very important step to be accomplished by any applicant. They key to success to be hired for the vacant job does not only depend on the documents you passed. Your employer would also give high regards for the way you move and act. Thus, it is essential for any applicant to observe his body language when being interviewed.

One must avoid slouching, which indicates laziness and boredom. Do not tighten your body muscle as well, for this will make you look stiff thus making you look nervous and lacking confidence. Do not place your hands into your pockets as well; this reflects your anxiety and discomfort. Lack of confidence is very well reflected in tapping of the foot, drumming of the fingers, and fidgeting.

If You Want To Show Interest

Signs of interest includes eye contact, and one must be able to maintain it. It signifies that the focus of your attention is on that person. Frequent nodding and leaning your body towards that person also indicates that you are listening to him or her.

Generally Rude Body Language

There are many gestures that are regarded as rude by most people, or that you are avoiding to interact with them. This includes crossing the arms across the chest, holding objects such as books and a bag in front of you, inspecting the time on your watch or the clock, stroking your chin, standing too close, staring or narrowing your eyes, forcing smiles, placing the hand on the waist, slouching, touching your face frequently, blinking more than usual, foot tapping, and many more. Most of these gestures are done unconsciously, but nonetheless, the people who you are talking to may be offended by the said actions.

Posture And Body Movements

One who maintains a good posture is one who relaxes into the chair provided for him, yet his back remains straight with his chin slightly held up and shoulder pulled back. Confidence is also shown in eye contact and in a firm handshake. A poor posture is shown by slouching; it usually means laziness or lack of interest.

If you have a posture that shows confidence, people will treat you differently. They will treat you with more respect.

Be Conscious Of Your Actions

Be aware of how your body move or act. You might be already sending signals of rudeness even during the moments you do not intend to do so. Make sure you maintain a good posture and perform the proper gestures appropriate for the place and time. You might also as well consider the cultural background of the person you are talking to, and adjust to their acceptable behavior and body language.
